What does BADAC mean? The initials are for Bundung Association of the Disabled Aand their Children, this association was formed by Mr Demba K.Darboe   a citizen of The Gambia WestAfrica,   who lives and has his building contracting business in Bundung some 10 miles from the capital of The Gambia Banjul.

Demba noticed that many disabled people had great problems in their daily lives through not being able to get paid employment, their children could not go to school, education has to be paid for in Gambia. Some disabled children could not go to school either because their families did not have enough money for school fees and uniforms.

Demba wanted to help, and contacted the local schools headmasters and asked them when they had children who could not go to school because they were too poor and either the children or one of the parents were disabled would the headmaster complete a form with details of the applicant outlining the family circumstances together with a photograph, some of the members of   BADAC can be seen on page 3.
